House of Arts Association
Working with artists and young people to develop communities through the use of art
Background
House of Arts Association is a dynamic youth-led organization based in Hatcliffe, Harare that works with artists and young people to develop communities through the use of art. This is achieved through its four pillars which are innovation, advocacy, education and diversity. The organization has been making a significant impact since its establishment in 2016 and registered 2029 with National Arts Council of Zimbabwe. House of Arts has successfully implemented four programs namely; Reshaping Communities through art, Tambainesu, Key to the City and currently Youth City. Concisely, it recognizes the power of art in fostering community development and actively engages young people living in marginalized communities such as Hatcliffe, Mbare and Epworth through creative platforms such as festivals, sports, drama, music, dance groups, art therapy sessions and paintings, to actively participate in self and community development.
What we do
House of arts is, a hospitable artistic house that homes all artistic expressions towards community development. We pride in having a unique way of identifying and solving developmental deficiencies in a more innovative way. We use arts as a vehicle to transport the message of positive development in the communities we work under. We have been effectively using art towards addressing mental health issues, as we have been conducting programs in different areas trying to arrest the surge of mental health cases. We also merge arts and sports hence culminating into SPORTS AGAINST DRUGS CAMPAIGNS. We educate communities about the sheer ills of drugs. Our seriousness towards community development, is best seen on how we are able to merge art and other community led organizations, towards the common goal which is community development.
